George STELL (1775-1823) of Dinwiddie Co., VA - his family and his known slaves
  • This George Stell wrote the names and dates of birth and other family information in a small pocket almanac published in 1796. In it he also recorded the names of more than a dozen of his slaves, including one mother and her four children.
I do not know what became of most of these slaves, but I'm happy to share images of this marvelous record with anyone who might be interested in it.
The almanac was passed down in our family and now is with my cousin in Canton, MS. She kindly photographed the entire almanac.
George died in 1823 in Dinwiddie Co. and I have a photocopy of his will, and other records pertaining to this family.
